Episode 18 - The Storyteller: Anne-Maree Sparkman

As we’ve gone through the Greatest Season That Was, it's glaring the lack of females involved in AFL football at the time. In 1993 Anne Maree Sparkman was one of only a few women who had any public presence in football. As a sports reporter for Channel Nine, Wide World of Sports and Sports Sunday she’d been a trailblazer. In and around 1993, Anne Maree was making the best TV features on football anywhere via Sports Sunday on Channel 9. A standard that’s rarely been touched. One of those features on the Fitzroy Football Club was to provide the basis of our earlier episode with Robert Shaw. Anne Maree joins us to talk about that Fitzroy feature and other stories from 1993 in the Greatest Season That Was. The Greatest Season That Was: 93 documents our contention that in 1993, footy was never better. Hosted by Adam Collins, Dan Brettig and Shannon Gill, this series is an in-depth exploration of one amazing season.  The Greatest Season That Was: 93 is produced by Jay Mueller and edited by Thom Lion.
