What The Dickens? - David Lean's Dickens

David Lean is one of Britain's most celebrated filmmakers, the master of the epic with such classics as Bridge On The River Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago. But ever the contrarians, Cine-Lit heads back before Lean started to go epic with a pair of films based on the works of Charles Dickens that are among the best ever adapted for film. Adam, Darrell and Rebecca take a closer look at Great Expectations (1946) and Oliver Twist (1948).
