Agni - A friend and protector of humanity

If Indra is the pivot of Vedic Mythology, then Agni is the pivot of Vedic rituals. Agni is perhaps most closely associated with sacrificial fires where he is thought to carry the offerings of humans to the gods. Over time, Agni's importance as a god diminishes, due to his overindulgence in consuming too many offerings, a fact explained in the
Mahabharata.
In
today's episode of Akhanda Bharat; Saniya tells us interesting stories about Agni, who apart from being on sculptures is also seen on some ancient coins. Agni was important in other ancient religions too and not limited to India and the Vedic religion.
