Joel Cummins of Umphrey's McGee
After almost 25 years of putting out records and touring, everything came to a halt for the dudes in Umphrey’s McGee in March 2020 with the pandemic crushing tour plans. That didn’t stop them from putting out live streamed shows and a handful of drive in shows. They also managed to continue recording songs for a new album, which you’ll get to hear in its entirety next week. Asking for a Friend may in fact maybe my favorite Umphrey’s McGee album to date. It’s filled with great lyrics, awesome hooks and harmonies, and truly great production. I can’t wait to hear all of these tunes live. Luckily I was able to grab some time with keyboard wizard Joel Cummins to talk about the record and a whole lot more.
