We begin the so-called “plotline of doom” with Perrin greeting every member of his party in a cinematic montage of walking and discussing the obvious dangers posed by traveling with Maseama. The next chapter shows a moment of profound tension in his army, but even while he is internally coming unglued Perrin is able to diffuse the situation because he is a decent leader (and also very tall).
