The Denver Hammer Murders

In 1984, the Denver, Colorado area experienced a number of sexual assaults and brutal murders that were carried out by a hammer-wielding perpetrator. He became known as the Denver hammer murderer or the Aurora hammer murderer. Regardless of the name used, there was no doubt this was a vicious predator. But, the police had no luck in catching him. It wasn't until 2018 that the Denver police got a DNA hit in Codis that their DNA evidence belonged to a man named Alex Christopher Ewing. Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss this brutal series of crimes in the Denver area. Alex Ewing was taken just a few years ago after Nevada passed legislation requiring prisoners convicted of certain offenses to submit DNA. That's how Denver police got their match. They eventually were able to extradite Ewing back to Colorado and charge him with a slew of crimes. The evidence looks compelling but he has not yet had his day in court.
