E1: The One With The Humanitarian Aid Worker / Spiritual Boxer

Hey MedTalkers!

These are exciting times because we are FINALLY on YouTube AND we have our first guest episode.

Today's guest is Dr Priyesh Patel.

Dr Priyesh is working as a medical doctor in London, his hometown. He obtained his medical degree at Barts and the London School of Medicine in the busy and diverse streets of East London. Prior to this, he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences and also a Masters in Global Health and Development at University College London.

Dr Priyesh developed a keen interest in exploring the illegal practices of FGM, also known as female genital mutilation, **the ritual cutting or removal of some or all of the external female genitalia and has travelled the world to present projects relating to this. He has presented at numerous healthcare conferences on this issue.**

Alongside this, Dr Priyesh has travelled around Europe as a Humanitarian Aid worker providing healthcare to refugees, mainly in Greece.   Outside of Medicine, he loves fitness, particularly boxing and track athletics. He is also very religious and spiritual.
