Master Sergeant Michael ‘Top’ Washington: Coping with Loss

Master Sergeant Michael ‘Top’ Washington served in the Gulf War, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan between 1988 and 2004, before becoming a firefighter. His son followed in his footsteps and joined the Marines, but was tragically killed in Afghanistan. Top found it difficult to cope with this loss, and it sent him into a depression, but things got better. Since then, Top has become a licensed therapist, and now works to create a compassionate and supportive community regarding mental health.  To hear more from Top, check out his episode of Warriors In Their Own Words, which comes out next Thursday.
