5: Dialling 'H' For Help

Very often, a crisis throws up unlikely saviors. In Goa’s battle against the Covid-19 crisis, the Goa Humanitarian Helpline was one such savior. The Helpline is a network of a diverse group of individuals, who have volunteered to form this unusually tenacious chain, which has come to the aid of thousands of folks, who had been driven to the end of their wits and food, due to the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. In this podcast episode which has been brought to you by Fifteen 73 Media, Vijaya Pais tells us about how the helpline experiment came to be and how it has helped put food on the table to those who needed it. She also speaks about how starvation is not just a phenomenon in which people suffer in districts and states far, far away, but that it also lives right in our midst. And in case you suffer any lockdown blues here's the number to call: 08047192600
