1 John 1: Being Honest with God | John shocks his readers by telling them that if they are convinced they have no sin, they're not righteous, but deceived. He presents God as the light of the sun itself, knowing that those close to him will have their shadow more clearly pronounced, but John gives the hope of forgiveness for all who confess to a faithful and just God.

John was the Apostle of Love, and Christ's love shines through both John's gospel and his three letters to the church. Back in the OT, Jeremiah reveals the other side of serving God—the ministry of sorrow. In Jeremiah and Lamentations, he mourns for God's people who refuse to hear his call to repent.
