On Bill Cosby
I won't spend one second defending Cosby's alleged actions because they are indefensible. However, I won't join the chorus of voices trying to use his alleged actions to invalidate his life's work of which I am a direct beneficiary. I attended Bethune-Cookman on a Cosby Scholarship. Hundreds if not thousands of young black kids went to college because of Cosby. This doesn't absolve him of anything. But it does give me pause to consider how quickly we seek to destroy some legacies while whitewashing and celebrating others. If we're going to rip down the legacy of one, then we better get ready to rip down the legacy of all including most of our presidents, our Founding Fathers and countless others who are venerated to this day despite the fact that they were murderers, rapists, child molesters, wife beaters and more."The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones. So let it be for ......" everyone or else no one.
