Simmons - great actor) plays a sadistic music teacher/mentor.  A very talented drummer quits.  A few months later they run into each other in a bar.  Andrew (the drummer) says: But is there a line? You know, maybe you go too far, and you discourage the next Charlie Parker from ever becoming Charlie Parker? Fletcher (the sadistic mentor): No, man, no. Because the next Charlie Parker would never be discouraged.
