Ep 5: One Teacher Away From Understanding Humanity Beyond the Transaction

Kevin Schafer, The Community Manager at the Tysons location of Industrious, an industry-leading co-working space with nationwide offices, has a strong background in community management after receiving his Master’s Degree from James Madison University in Leadership. He shares how Casey Carter, his former boss, worked so hard to know the people behind the athletes, what makes them tick, and how to prioritize those individuals’ long-term career instead of giving cookie-cutter guidance. Kevin shares how Casey taught him to look at others and the puzzles they were trying to complete in their own lives, followed by how to make those pieces connect more seamlessly. Toward the end of the episode, Kevin shares how his work at Industrious is influenced by these lessons. Kevin chooses not to focus on the transactional or efficient path, but rather on the path that leads to deeper relationships and the facilitation of others’ success.
