Native American Medicine with Doris Kruse

Doris Kruse has personally experienced the effects of both addiction and mental illness in her own family and believes that addiction and mental health treatment is America’s number-one health issue.

She has worked in the field of addiction, domestic violence, mental health, and family services for forty-three years, including in prisons, outpatient programs, inpatient programs, DUI programs, domestic violence programs, and as the director of a large hospital unit and the owner of an outpatient addiction, domestic violence program.

For thirty-six of those years, she taught for the Office of Behavioral Health and in colleges and Native American reservation programs, and in states beyond Colorado, writing many program curriculums for a variety of health care programs.

More recently, she has moved into alternative medicine and found a new passion in energy medicine such as Reiki, in which she is a Reiki Master Teacher, and teaches Cherokee Body Work, acupressure, and other energy-work forms. Additionally, she has always been interested in music and art, and advocates for incorporating these into treatment models.
