From the Henssler Financial Studios, this is your news minute on the mariettadaily journal podcast, presented by Engineered Solutions of Georgia. Today is Monday June 5th, and I'm Brian Giffin.
Efren Jimenez Padron, a Marietta man, has been indicted on multiple charges, including malice murder and felony murder. He is accused of beating Lorenzo Tatum to death with a two-by-four lumber that had exposed screws. The altercation occurred on April 30, and Tatum's body was discovered behind a beauty salon in the Westside Shopping Center. Padron, who admitted to being involved in the altercation but could not explain its cause, was previously taken to the hospital for injuries and later booked into the Cobb County jail. He has been held without bond since his arrest and also has an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold. Prior to this incident, Padron had faced charges of criminal trespass for sleeping and returning to the Westside Shopping Center.
