Last week we began a long and in depth conversation regarding the relationship between the Director of Photography and the Script. We kicked off the discussion by identifying the position the DP holds as one of great privilege. They are the first audience-member to the performance and yet they’re simultaneously the most important crew member in the crafting of the story and therefore must be completely removed as a passive observer.
