Dr. Enric Sala is a former academic who grew tired of simply writing an "obituary" for the ocean. He now is the National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence and founder of the Pristine Seas project. He is also the author of The Nature of Nature: Why We Need the Wild, in which a quarter of the proceeds goes to ocean conservation.
