Society 3.0

Reading texts like Sapiens and Guns, Germs, and Steel makes us realize that human civilization has come a long way. We started with religions and nations being two of the most scalable ways of aligning people in a single direction. We have now come to a point that humans have innovated upon so much that we can use technology to further that influence beyond religion and national borders. In fact, we have come to a point where technology can potentially innovate upon itself. We don’t need to look so closely at innovation to realize that menial tasks are getting automated away from our daily routines with every passing day. We have entered a phase of hyper-automation, even across industries that saw the least amount of transformation like manufacturing, retail, and foodservice industry. Healthcare seems to be shifting from being delivered through the cloud instead of being delivered through the hospitals. All of this is necessary for us to evolve the current society, into what I call Society 3.0. A new kind of society where the money is directly mapped to positive impact. Bespoke medicine, drones as delivery partners, or robots as family members who even take our pets for a walk when we can’t. All of these innovations make me excited about the future and in my head paves the path ahead for tomorrow. Technology is now on the cusp of moving beyond augmentation that replaces a human capability and into augmentation that creates superhuman capabilities, evolving our society into Society 3.0. An evolution of society where humans take our current environment to one that is happier, increasingly decentralized, and pillared on a peer-to-peer economy. From my network, I believe there are change makers pushing further in this direction. I believe their vision deserves to be heard and their mission should get the spotlight. To this, I dedicate a podcast series titled “Society 3.0”.
