Guest House: Breaking the Cycle of Crime
Founded in 1974, Friends of Guest House helps Northern Virginian women make successful transitions from incarceration back into the community. Their mission? To provide women with a criminal history the structure, supervision, support and assistance they need to become self-sufficient and responsible members of the community. Friends of Guest House address the root causes of the vicious cycle of crime by offering programs that focus on core issues ranging from trauma and addiction to housing and employment. And their program works: without re-entry support, 70% of ex-offenders nationwide re-offend within two years. Among Guest House graduates, fewer than 10% re-offend.
