Toyota In Transition: Maintaining Momentum in the Age of Mobility
Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota Motor North America, addressed the Detroit Economic Club on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, and offered his insights on mobility, autonomous vehicles, the auto industry and their potential impact on society.
“To us, mobility using autonomous vehicles is about saving lives,” said Lentz. “If you look at the fact that there are 36,000 deaths that take place per year, 98% take place because of driver error. The fact that we can develop a car with intelligence to prevent those accidents from happening, to me that is the benefit to society.”
