SEASON 8, EPISODE 1: THE MYRTLES PLANTATION

The Myrtles Plantation, located in the small town of Saint Francisville, Louisiana holds the rather dubious record of hosting more ghostly phenomena than just about any other house in the country. But what could be more dubious than the honor itself?

Well, that would be the questionable history that's long been presented to explain why the house is so haunted in the first place.

Known for decades as one of the most haunted houses in America, the Myrtles attracts an almost endless stream of visitors each year, many of whom come searching for ghosts -- and there seems to be little doubt that the house is haunted. It's the reason for the haunting that's been called into question. For several generations, tales have been told that are blatantly false. However, the Myrtles, according to hundreds of people who've encountered the resident spirits, is indeed haunted, just not for the reasons we've been told.

A simple check of historical records reveals the true story, which you're just about to hear. As is often the case, the true story is not as sensational as the story everyone, including myself, grew up with. But it's still strange and macabre. The history of the plantation is filled with death, tragedy, and despair, which leads us to wonder why the fanciful history was created in the first place.
