You've probably heard the term "syntactic sugar", that is, syntax within a programming language that is designed to make things easier to read or to express. It makes the language "sweeter" for human use. It turns out Brett Cannon has spent 2 years diving into and writing about Python's sweet language features and how they really work down inside CPython.
