1. The Tuticorin police in Tamil Nadu have filed a case against state Fisheries Minister Anitha R Radhakrishnan for his alleged derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'Aren't you those who wanted to kill Kamaraj when he was sleeping,' the minister was heard saying in a video in an apparent response to PM Modi, who had invoked Congress icon K Kamaraj at a rally. 2. 'We have booked the minister under section 294B (using obscene words in public), based on a complaint by a BJP functionary,' an officer from the Meignanapuram Police Station told NDTV. The state BJP has also written to the Election Commission for action against the minister. 3. Bharat Chandra Narah, the MLA of Naoboicha in Assam's Lakhimpur district, resigned from the Congress after his wife failed to get a ticket from the party for the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress announced Uday Shankar Hazarika as its candidate for the Lakhimpur Lok Sabha seat. Narah was hopeful that his party would nominate his wife Ranee Narah, a former Union Minister, for the seat. 4. Former Telangana Intelligence Bureau chief T Prabhakhar Rao has been named as Accused No 1 in the phone-tapping case that has roiled the state ahead of a general election. Mr Rao-on whose order reams of electronic data is said to have been gathered by illegally tapping the phones of opposition leaders during the earlier BRS government led by K Chandrashekar Rao-is reportedly in the United States. A look-out notice has been issued in his name. 5. Former Karnataka Minister and mining baron G Janardhana Reddy rejoined the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The Gangavati MLA, who is an accused in an illegal mining case, had formed the 'Kalyana Rajya Pragati Paksha' (KRPP) ahead of the state assembly polls last year, snapping his two-decade-old association with the BJP.
