But Stormfront is still gripping to life and other things as Homelander's frustration with events is growing as he is continuously forced to tell the world he's just a normal man who fell for the wrong woman. When he takes his frustration out on former fastest supe alive A-Train, Queen Meave has reached the end of her patience. She brings in Billy Butcher to find the body of Soldier Boy, the long thought dead leader of the former Supe group "Payback". If they can find the cause of his death maybe they can find the weapon that can finally kill Homelander. Meave also has another weapon for Billy "Compound V24", a 24 hour boost of Supe powers that might level the playing field. Billy Butcher is also working through his frustration, with the death of his wife Becca, Billy now works for the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs. It has been using the Boys to take down rule breaking Supes, including diminutive coke fiend Termite. But created by government representative Victoria Neuman and Hughie Campbell, it just doesn’t have the same level of violence towards Supes that his old life had. Plus Hughie is now Billy Butcher's boss to add salt to the wounds. When Termite rips his boyfriend apart from the inside out, The Boys think they have him but Neuman has made a deal with Vought industries to keep the supe on the street in exchange for some lower level thugs. As Hughie begins to suspect his partner Neuman, he stumbles across an encounter between her and a childhood friend that ends with Hughie's new wonderful life, at the Bureau and with Starlight, exploding in a pile of guts and blood.
