On Episode 146 of the Thale-Harate Kannada Podcast, hosts Pavan and Ganesh sit down to discuss the brewing, preparation and consumption of alcoholic beverages, an activity that has been a part of human society for at least 10,000 years.

Pavan shares how various beverages are created using techniques of fermentation and distillation. He also discusses how India, especially Independent Indian governments have viewed alcohol as something to either be banned, or taxed heavily and controlled in every aspect. He discusses the creation of IMFLs or “Indian Made Foreign Liquors” and how it is only over the last 10-15 years that Indian companies are moving beyond this to make high quality alcoholic beverages and liquors for both Indians and the world. He also shares how his drink of choice is a Gin and Tonic, a mixed drink that developed because of the colonisation of India by the British.
