Formula 1 Grid Talk Episode 88: Remembering 1991 – Ayrton Senna’s Final Championship

Welcome to Episode 88 of our Formula 1 podcast, Grid Talk, hosted by George Howson! In this episode joining George we have motorsport podcaster Philip Mathews, F1 fanatic Henrico Marks, and F1 expert Alex Booth. The battle for the 1991 FORMULA 1 World Championship was one for the ages, as McLaren’s Ayrton Senna and Williams’ Nigel Mansell went toe to toe for the title. There were some incredible races that year, and memories that will last a lifetime. Who can forget Senna flying out the blocks by winning the opening five races, before Mansell answered with three on the trot to get back in contention? Not to mention classic moments such as Mansell’s heartbreak at the 1991 Canadian Grand Prix, or the Brit giving his Brazilian rival a lift back to the pits at Silverstone after taking the chequered flag to the delight of the home crowd. Today the Grid Talk crew turn back the clock and revisit the incredible 1991 FORMULA 1 season, Ayrton Senna’s third and final Driver’s Championship.
