Episode 7 - Nothing of me and everything of you

Nothing of me and everything of You I surrender to you my lord... I am empty... fill me up with You. Ego is 'Everything of me and Nothing of you'. Surrender is 'Nothing of me and Everything of you'. Similarly, in the context of spirituality, by surrender you are just making God a major partner in your endeavours. By surrendering your finite intelligence to that infinite intelligence, you are allowing that infinite intelligence to express itself through you. The river merges with the sea and becomes the sea. The drop of rain falls into the river and becomes the river. The lower identity is lost in order to gain the higher identity. So too in surrender, you are giving up the lower self in order to gain the higher self. In surrender, you become as powerful as that to which you have surrendered. In the great epic of Mahabharata, the vicious Kauravas, in one of their numerous ways in conniving to humiliate the Pandavas, sought to outrage the modesty of Draupati. It was Dushasana who resorted to carry out the humiliation. The Pandavas were unable to intervene in their wife's cause as they had lost her out to the Kauravas in the game of dice. Initially, Draupati attempted to save herself by herself: 'Everything of me, and nothing of you'. After her vain attempts, the helpless Draupati turned to Krishna, the Almighty, for his support. She wailed loudly crying out to Krishna holding on to her sari. But there was no sign of Krishna's Grace. The desperate Draupati, then let go of her sari and threw her arms up in the air invoking Krishna's mercy at that crucial juncture. At once Krishna's Grace showered on her with an endless stream of sari that kept increasing to tire Dushasana who gave up the heartless mission. Thus, it was Draupati's surrender to the Lord that saved her: 'Nothing of me, and everything of you'. This incident highlights the significance of total surrender without reservation, submitting oneself to the Lord without the intervention of individual choices. Surrender is an expression of total trust. The Christians says, “It is not MY will but THY will that will be done.” An Islamic follower would say, “Inshallah” - if God wills it. If you want your life to be music, then make yourself as His instrument. And, always remember, the music is never from the flute but it is through the flute. It is Him through you… So the infinitheists pray, “Nothing of me, and everything of you” to their Source. This expression of infinitheists essentially means, “I surrender myself unto you my Lord. I am transferring the responsibility of my life in Thee hands. Lead me through…” So the seventh line in the infiniprayer - Nothing of me, and everything of You.
