Hassan Hajjaj
With his irresistible photographs of contemporary Moroccan culture, the artist Hassan Hajjaj brings to mind the joyful images of Malick Sidibé and the bright pop elements of Andy Warhol. Moving from his home in Morocco to London as a child, he spent his youth at the heart of the 1980s clubbing and fashion scene before finding his voice in the 1990s photographing life in his country of birth. Today, he is widely regarded as Morocco's most visible artist, and splits his time between his riad in Marrakech and his studio in east London. He talks to Danielle Radojcin about his work, from his famous Kesh Angels image of henna girls on motorbikes to photographing Billie Eilish for the cover of Vogue.
