September is National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month, when mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to promote suicide prevention and awareness across the country. Suicide Prevention Month provides a dedicated time to come together with collective strength around a difficult topic and educate ourselves on how we can help those who may be struggling.

The Hillsboro Hops and Intel have partnered to support the Hillsboro Schools Foundation’s new “Imagine your Adventure/Imagina tu Aventura” program, which brings bilingual, bicultural career exploration kits and programs to all kindergarten through sixth grade classrooms in HSD. Intel committed to donate $10 for every strikeout by a Hops pitcher this past season. Hops pitchers had delivered 918 strikeouts by Aug. 27, 2021, totaling $9,180; however, Intel generously decided to round up their donation to $50,000 to enhance their support of future STEM opportunities for HSD students!
