Why Does Pakistan Continue to Oscillate Between Pro and Anti-West Narratives?

Ever since 1947, Pakistan has always been seen as either a West-friendly country or an anti-West nation. Pakistan didn't, and to date does not have a positive working relationship with both sides, and hence has never been seen as a neutral country.

The problem is as new as it is old. Imran Khan's pre-meditated visit to Russia on 23rd-24th February sparked outrage in the Western Bloc as if the country had endorsed the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This was despite Pakistan condemning the breach of sovereignty by the Russian forces.

To discuss the instability, I called upon Professor Dr. Zahir Hussain to explain the issue and answer my questions.
