Episode #172: Robert Clark / Photographer

Renowned photographer and frequent National Geographic contributor Robert Clark joins the podcast to talk about growing up in Hays Kansas and his early love of sports photography that would create a young determined photographer working his way through multiple newspapers on the way to an extremely storied career.  During our conversation Robert talks about how the opportunity to shoot a story on a high school football team in Odessa Texas early on in his career would end up becoming the best selling book by Buzz Bissinger titled Friday Night Lights and help him on his way to creating a name for himself. After moving to New York to pursue a better understanding of lighting and studio work, Robert began to find his place in the industry, working with everyone from Vanity Fair and Time to his long relationship with the Geographic.  Known for his versatility in shooting everything from beautiful still life imagery to photojournalistic storytelling, Robert has gone on to shoot over 50 stories for National Geographic, more magazine covers than you could keep track of, and continues to be inspired by not only his contemporaries, but the young talent he sees coming up.
