Humble Politician Nograj Review

Streaming now on Voot Select is Danish Sait’s 10 part series, Humble Politician Nograj season 1, directed by Saad Khan, written by them both. Nograj, an MLA, is looking to become the CM of Karnataka, lekin to do so he must form a coalition and get maximum people on his side. His party, the One Big Party must pick between Most Secular Party and Family Run Party. Enter resort politics, horse-trading, bribery, vishwasghat…..basically everything which has no place in the democratic process, but is very much a product of the same.If you’ve not seen the film Humble Politician Nograj, which admittedly I hadn’t either, the first episode lets you take in the landscape. Nograj speaks to you directly through the camera and explains the story so far in flashback and takes the time to introduce the characters of this world, also firmly setting the tone, that this is attempted meta commentary on the corrupt nature of Indian politics, which might be absurdist and borderline stupid in parts, but like Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, its very much inspired by, almost identical to how things have unfolded in India, in modern politics. Not that I’m comparing Humble Politician Nograj to Adam McKay’s work, zameen-aasman ka farak hai, rather I’m wondering if political satire might just be the most important sub-genre of storytelling right now.Nograj is a narcissistic crazy politician who exploits the city and its resources. Humble Politician Nograj, streaming exclusively on Voot Select.
