Old House Renovation Conundrums with Dave Rademacher

Dave Rademacher of Rademacher Revival is back this episode, answering my many questions about choosing to live in and renovate an old house- maybe a very old house. Dave was my guest in episode 65 as we discussed Kitchens and Baths in Old Houses. As I contemplate my next house and project I wanted to have a conversation with Dave about what it means to be the custodian of an old house, how can we incorporate modern amenities, when is a house too old for a renovation (going for a restoration instead) and does acquiring an old house mean you need to live in a museum. About my guest: Dave Rademacher is one half of the Rademacher Revival team, along with his wife Brittany. Together, they hold a Michigan builder’s license and have a Degree in Residential Design. They have bought and revived homes that had history and character so they could be a part of each other’s story for generations to come - an 1800’s School House, a 1927 English Tudor, an 1873 Colonial Revival and most recently a 1894 Italian Farmhouse.
