Our Featured Students are the winners of the Cesar E. Chavez Leadership Conference Legacy Challenge! Each year, our Migrant Education Program students attend the Cesar E. Chavez Leadership Conference at Western Oregon University. This year, due to COVID-19, the planning committee decided to turn the conference into a contest - the CECLC Legacy Challenge - in which students would be tasked with creating pre-recorded workshops/videos on a topic of choice that could be tied to the legacy of Cesar E. Chavez. Six students representing our four comprehensive high schools participated on two teams. Over the past six weeks, both teams met with MEP Graduation Specialist Vanessa Santillan-Nieto before and after school to brainstorm, screenwrite, and produce their video submissions. In the end, the team composed of Gabriela from Century, Ana from Hilhi, and Mario from Glencoe took first place; and the team composed of Ashly from Liberty, and Areli and Dayana from Hilhi took third place. Visit our website to learn more and watch their video submissions. Congratulations and way to go, students! You make us Proud to be HSD!
