Episode 8 - Richard Hinds

Just as footy itself was different in 1993, so too was covering the game from the press box. As part of a talented journalistic team at the Sunday Age, Richard Hinds was in the thick of it, whether watching at Victoria Park on the day of Nicky Winmar's racial stand, getting banned by Fitzroy's coach Robert Shaw, or being privy to the post-match media habits of the fiery Carlton coach David Parkin. Hinds was also one of the most perceptive identifiers of Friday night football's emergence, and at the same time was able to spend as many as three days with Collingwood's Mick McGuane for a profile. He spoke engagingly about the media game in the greatest season that was, 1993. The Greatest Season That Was: 93 documents our contention that in 1993, footy was never better. Hosted by Adam Collins, Dan Brettig and Shannon Gill, this series is an in-depth exploration of one amazing season.  The Greatest Season That Was: 93 is produced by Jay Mueller and edited by Thom Lion.
