Ep. 07 - 1999 Gwyneth Paltrow
Get your vagina candles ready for this week's Best Actress winner, Gwyneth Paltrow. Many argued that Gwyneth only won because of the unprecedented campaigning schemes by Harvey Weinstein (gross) and that the Oscar should have gone to, well, literally anyone else in this category. This year saw Cate Blanchett's first nomination, the powerhouse of a performance in Elizabeth. Fernanda Montenegro finally received her long awaited Oscar acknowledgement and still remains the only Brazilian nominated for an Oscar to this day (sad). Emily Watson played a woman who dies of MS and Meryl Streep was nominated for a woman dying of cancer. It really begs the question, how did Gwyneth win? Should she be consciously uncoupled from her trophy? Join Kyle Brownrigg and guest host Liz Doré as they discuss!
