Royse City, TX - A Friendly Touch of Texas and Other Innuendos
Welcome to Royse City, "a friendly touch of Texas!" Located in Northeast Texas 33 miles from Dallas, Royse City was first developed around 1885 by Byrd Royse. Royse was instrumental in getting the MK a T Railroad brought through the city, and reportedly cut a deal with the railroad to have the town named Royse City in exchange for donating the land for the train station. Royse City is primarily a bedroom community, but also has several interesting attractions such as the Old Jail Park in downtown. Royse City was home to Glen Payne, the lead singer of The Cathedral Quartet, and baseball players Gus Ketchum and Taylor Hearn. The most recent excitement in town was the addition of a Buc-ee's, a popular travel center chain, along the highway. While this might not sound too exciting, that means there is now an endless supply of Beaver Nuggets in town! What's a Beaver Nugget? Tune in and find out!
