In the film, Lohan portrays Maddie Kelly, an editor who writes covertly for her great-aunt, Irish writer Paul Kennedy. When Paul begins expressing interest in Emma, Maddie's best friend, she grows envious. In the end, Maddie finds herself at their Irish wedding, overcome with jealousy and desiring to be the one to wed Paul. She is surprised when Saint Brigid grants her desire, but things are not quite as ideal as Maddie had hoped.
