How a Simple Process Fools Us Into Complacency

When you observe master storytellers, you can easily believe that the end product you get to enjoy, because of how effortlessly it was delivered, is not the result of careful deliberate practice. Or that this artful performance can be reduced to a pattern, we want there to be magic and when we see how the trick is done we cannot accept that the process is that simple - so we dismiss it, or pretend it does not need concerted effort to master.
