Democracies, Politicians and the games they play have been known since ancient times. Remember Theron from the movie 300. Many(maybe not most) politicians are like Theron pretending to be Leonidas.

True test of a democracy is whether politicians can be criticised and taken down in verbal duels as any other man/woman. Not a place where politicians(or their family) can get away with crimes. As someone once joked: ...an American who tells a Russian that the United States is so free he can stand in front of the White House and yell, ''To hell with Ronald Reagan.'' The Russian replies: ''That's nothing. I can stand in front of the Kremlin and yell, 'To hell with Ronald Reagan,' too.''
