Build Your Team: Teachers, Counselors, Coaches, Family, Friends
My parents did not attend college. I went through high school without a clear plan on what to do, and by senior year, I had no clue where to find a college application, let alone how to apply. In spite of this, I was admitted to my first choice school. How, you ask? I was lucky enough to have a TEAM of Supporters, Cheerleaders, and Believers. The truth is, teens spend more hours at school than anywhere else. Who we encounter determines how we are influenced. While many teens can and do forge through this college admission process on their own, it is 1000 times better when they can draft a TEAM of Supporters and unshakable group of friends early on. Today our guest, Eva Scalzo, knows a thing or two about building your team. Eva captained the Mater Dei HS CIF Championship swim team, went on to Yale where she swam with the NCAA Division 1 swim team, winning Ivy League titles while concurrently qualifying for the U.S. National Long Distance Team and being voted captain.
