I had come to the conclusion that he had only a few topics to write about, one included his community service trip. I made the mistake of sharing this with his parents and the father said something like “…but I recently listened to a podcast and the guest said she might die if she read another essay about building homes in Costa Rica.” I giggled because I too had found myself saying something similar at one point while at Vassar reading essays Barnes and Noble one winter day.
