D-Day: The British Story

This week marks the anniversary of the D-Day landings in 1944, and to commemorate it we are speaking to military historian Paul Reed about the British contribution on D-Day. The British and Commonwealth role on this most famous day is often overlooked in favour of the American sacrifice at Omaha and Utah Beaches. But in reality the British played a vital role in the landings, bringing in hundreds of thousands of troops on Sword, Juno and Gold Beaches, and facing the brunt of German counter-attacks.
