#21 - Areej Jaffrani
Areej Jaffrani is a child and adolescent psychologist with a specialization in play therapy. She works with schools to upgrade their existing apparatuses to include mental health departments and considerations for students who might have special needs. Areej also operates her personal therapy center, Lumos counseling in Karachi. Our conversation begins with Areej's decision to pursue psychology, the challenges she's faced, what she wishes she knew when making these decisions, it then moves into the taboos around mental healthcare in Pakistan, the factors that have lead to our fractured societal psyche, and we end with a brief segment on the nature of our relationship with mental health generally.
