39. Quintessentially Cuffed: Where Swift Meets Strokes - Part 2 (feat. Kevin Verga)
Welcome back to Part 2 of our "Quintessential Fall Jams" series, where Rachel and Kevin are comparing Taylor Swift's "All Too Well" from the 2012 Red Album and The Strokes' "Someday" from 2001's "Is This It." After setting some intentions for the month of November, Kevin gives a bit of background on The Strokes and the impact they had on the turn-of-the-century garage rock revival. He contextualizes the album release within the greater American culture of the early 2000s. Near the end of the episode, Kevin introduces his concept of the "Entropy Fallacy," which he describes as an ever-increasing chaotic upswing (in the universe and in our personal lives). And it just might be what connects our two songs, even more than heartbreak or nostalgia. As always, thank you for listening!
