6. Authenticity in a Hyper-Specific Spotify Playlist (feat. Kevin Verga)
Kevin Verga -- former Fordham University RA and current 90.7 WFUV employee -- joins Rachel on the couch for a quick little existential crisis. Rachel a Kevin start out with intros and h.e.r. reflections of the week. At 08:42, Rachel tells a real-life story a la Modern Love about a Bumble match of semesters past and the random Brooklyn meet cute. At 16:02, Rachel gets Kevin's take on the coronavirus panic that's sweeping the nation. Are we worried? Is it all just hype? Finally, at 18:17, Rachel and Kevin dive into the intersections of music (fandom and performing) and authenticity. At 24:12, Kevin describes a moment of intense authenticity, and he and Rachel discuss what it means to be 100% yourself, even when/if you're performing. By 26:23, they get into performer/comedian, Bo Burnham and his take on the day-to-day performances we're all always putting on. Rachel and Kevin also represent opposite ends of the social media spectrum, which they discuss here (27:47). 34:16 brings conversation about the job market - what does it mean to present your authentic self to an employer? And how does that change (if at all) once you're in the daily grind of the professional world? Rachel and Kevin end with their respective game plans for authenticity going forward. Go out there and live for YOU! As always, thanks for listening! Jadeworm's "Another Thing" LaMa's "Views of an Ex" Podcast
