LIAM 069 – Read Books. Feed Your Head!
Many people ask me if I can make a book recommendation to help in their personal development. My answer is "Yes, read books. That will help in your personal development!" Sadly, most adults spend 15-20 hours per week watching TV when they could be reading an exciting novel or a book that will teach them more about life. Listen as I talk about the changes I made in my own life to become an intentional reader: Listen on iTunes or Listen to/download this episode here: Show Outline: Question: can you recommend a book that teaches.... Answer: Yes, read a book! It almost doesn't matter what book you read. Reading will improve your life! Most adults stop reading after they finish their schooling Most adults in America watch 15-20 hours of TV per week! The food we eat has a direct impact on what our bodies become Same is true with our minds! I gave up listening to and watching news programs many years ago Most TV, news, music - message is dark, defeating, negative, you'll never get ahead Most TV shows portray women as sex objects, men are idiots, and kids know everything and run the families. It's about how you choose to spend your time. When you say "Yes" to one thing, you are saying "No" to something else. I read between 3 - 5 books per month--most of which are audiobooks. It's a very rare thing to find a book, fiction or non-fiction, where the theme is negative, self-defeating. Most books are very motivational, uplifting, good defeats evil, teaches the value of self-esteem and working hard to achieve your dreams, etc. Biographies are a great place to start if you're looking for good books to read. Challenge: Turn your TV off for 30 days and read books instead. "You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read." - Charlie Tremendous Jones "The man who doesn't read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them" - Mark Twain I made reading books/listening to audiobooks a huge priority as part of my personal development Bruce's Reading List "Remember what the dormouse said: 'Feed your head, feed your head'" - Grace Slick Mentioned in this show: Bruce's Reading List Boston Marathon #Miles4Smiles Fundraiser Download: Affirmations for Abundant Living LIAM Team Life Coaching Community Subscription/Social Links: Subscribe on iTunes!
