LIAM 054 – Life Plan: Step 4 – Rate Your Wheel of Life
Step 4 in creating your Life Plan is to honestly evaluate where you are now in comparison to your ideal wish for each spoke in the Wheel of Life. Once you know where you are, you can take specific action to move one step closer to the life of your dreams! Listen as I walk you through Step 4 of your Life Plan: Listen on iTunes or Listen to/download this episode here: Show Outline: Review Step 3 to understand your ideal desire, your 10, for each area of life. The Wheel of Life has 7 spokes: Spiritual Physical Mental/Intellectual/Emotional Family Personal/Social/Friends Career Financial Based on your perfect wish for each spoke, rate your current condition on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being "just getting started," and 10 being you have reached your dreams for this area. Whatever number you pick for your current situation is the right number for you! Do not judge the number in any way. Just relax and know that this is where you are and that it's OK to be right where you are for each area of life. Thinking a low number is "bad" is not a useful thought. Using the Solutions Focus approach, as discussed in LIAM Session 23, ask yourself "why did I rate it so high?" If you rated a spoke a 5, ask yourself "Why so high? Why a 5? Why not a 4 or a 3?" Make a list of the reasons you rated each spoke as high as you did. Even if you picked a 1 for some area, why not a 0? This method shows you that you have already made progress, maybe significant progress toward your goal for each area of life. It gives you the feeling of accomplishment, which creates confidence to move even higher! Now, for each area, make a list of a few things that would need to happen to move just 1 point higher on the scale. Let's just take one step at a time, set ourselves up for victory, and create momentum!
