LIAM 030 – Find Joy in the Journey: Be Happy in Becoming!
Finding joy in the journey of life is about being happy in the becoming! We only run a marathon one step at a time. We only live life one moment at a time. As Annie Dillard said: "how we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives." Doing your best is about what you are DOING at the moment to get the result you want. If you are only living for the end-result and missing the satisfaction and joy of doing the things to create the result, you will have missed the point of living along the way, and you will not enjoy the result as much as you will if you enjoy the process of creating the result. Show outline: Today's Facebook Post: Today is going to be a beautiful, happy, productive day. I am going to create and embrace peace. I will smile and laugh, and help others do the same. I will recognize and create opportunities for growth in the direction of my goals! I will think, believe, and take action today! Follow up on marathon = Do Your Best Doing your best is about what you are DOING right NOW. Not what you want the end-result to look like. The result you want is important because it shapes what you do now, but it is the NOW that matters most. If all you can think about is the result, the reward, that's what you live for and you miss the present moment We want so many things and so much stuff: The car, house, spouse, kids, vacations, bank accounts The degrees, the promotions the careers When we get what we want after working so hard to get them, we are often disappointed We miss the joy of the doing of the things that got us there Success is not a destination, it is a process, it is the journey of becoming How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. — Annie Dillard Life is made up of a series of days, made up of a series of nows You can't have an awesome life if you don't have a lot of really awesome days A life well-lived is made up of days well-lived A job well-done is made up tasks well-done "Always Do Your Best" is about the present moment and enjoying doing your best at whatever you are doing now Finding the "joy in the journey" is about taking pleasure in the process of becoming Hard doesn't mean you can't enjoy it Making mistakes doesn't mean you didn't do your best, and you can still take pleasure in the mistake by knowing you can do it better or different the next time It is not the years that get wasted, it is the minutes and hours.
