Culadasa (John Yates, Ph.D.) combines Buddhist teachings with an emerging, scientific understanding of the mind. A neuroscientist with over four decades of meditation experience, Culadasa is the author of The Mind Illuminated and former director of Dharma Treasure. Culadasa was the director of Dharma Treasure Buddhist Sangha in Tucson, Arizona and wrote The Mind Illuminated: A Complete Meditation Guide Using Buddhist Wisdom and Brain Science. He is a meditation master with over 40 years of experience practicing and teaching in the Tibetan and Theravadin meditation traditions. Among his teachers were Upasaka Kema Ananda and the Venerable Jotidhamma Bhikkhu. Culadasa has also taught and worked in the fields of neuroscience, physiology, and healthcare education.
